It’s more than just fashion for Tribal Threadz, the archaic themed apparel offers a portion of its proceeds to The Children of Peru Foundation in order to give back to the community that manufactures its designs in the first place.
David Grossman, founder and CEO of Tribal Threadz is one of Nittany Lion’s very own. The junior has a mission to not only produce a quality brand, but to impact the lives of others. “We had it made there so we could help give the natives work, so they can make money” said the 20-year-old. Tribal Threadz is a collaborative brand ran and operated by David’s brother, Andrew Grossman and his best friend, Ben Birns.
HC: When was Tribal Threadz founded?
DG: May 2013 officially, and the website came later in August 2013.
HC: What is the ultimate drive behind why the brand was created?
DG: The Brand was originally created to benefit the people making the products. One day while visiting Peru, someone stopped me and asked where did I get my hat. It was an original design I created and didn’t think much of it.
HC: Did you receive that same feedback from people here (in America) as you did overseas?
DG: Defintely, people were offering to buy my hats off my head for $30 and $40
HC: Are there any other countries Tribal Trendz is looking to for inspiration?
DG: Currently Ghana.
HC: How do you see your brand expanding within the next few years?
DG: Hopefully our apparel will be distributed in smaller businesses and local boutiques and eventually move to mainstream stores.
