The holiday season is not complete without snuggling up on the couch with some hot chocolate and watching a movie. In case you’ve run out of ideas for what holiday movie to watch next, here’s a list of some HCK-approved must-see holiday movies!

1. Love Actually

2. Home Alone

3. Nightmare Before Christmas (Most people might consider this more of a Halloween movie, but it’s just as fun to watch during the holiday season!)

4. Rise of the Guardians

5. The Holiday

6. A Christmas Carol (You can choose which of the dozen versions of this movie that you want to watch, depending on your mood!)

7. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (The animated and live-action versions are both great)

8. A Charlie Brown Christmas

9. Elf

10. Eight Crazy Nights (For those of you who celebrate Hanukkah, enjoy some Adam Sandler humor!)

11. Christmas Vacation

12. Meet Me in St. Louis (Because you need to see at least one musical during your holiday season)

13. Barbie Nutcracker (The holiday season makes everyone feel like a little kid again, so just embrace it!)

14. White Christmas

15. Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer

16. Jack Frost (The 1979 version.)

17. The Christmas Ornament (I had to include one cheesy Hallmark movie)

18. Miracle on 34th Street

19. The Polar Express

20. Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town

21. A Dad for Christmas

22. Mean Girls (The Christmas-related scenes are an integral part of the plot here, don’t you agree? And really, why would you ever pass up an opportunity to watch this movie for the 300th time?)

23. The Santa Clause

24. It’s a Wonderful Life

25. When Harry Met Sally (Okay, so this isn’t a traditional Christmas movie… but after the Christmas craze is over and you’re looking forward to New Year’s Eve, you can settle down on the couch to watch this classic, holiday-appropriate rom-com!)

Ally Bruschi is a senior political science major at Kenyon College. She spent this past summer interning as a writer with both The Daily Meal, a digital media group  dedicated to "all things food and drink" and The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that partners with U.S. policymakers to alleviate global poverty. Before entering the "real world" of jobs, however, Ally spent many summers as a counselor at an all-girls summer camp in Vermont, aka the most wonderful place on earth. A good book, a jar of peanut butter, a well-crafted Spotify playlist, and a lazy dog could get her through even the worst of days.
