Traveling Over Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Whether you’re driving, flying, or hitch hiking home for the holidays you might get caught in some traffic and need ways to keep yourself entertained.

So, if you’re driving you might want a buddy. Whether it be one of your sorority sistahs, frat bros, someone from down your hall, or that kid you had gone to high school with, a little company never killed anybody, so offer them a ride if their home is in the same general direction as yours. You’ll have someone to chit-chat with, drive-thru ‘n chew it with. Plus, you can have them chip in for gas money and you’ll get a couple of extra dollars to spend on yourself for New Year’s Eve.

While driving, make sure you have some bumpin’ music to lean wit it and rock wit it while you drive. Get some Beyonce to 2Chainz to Usher to ABBA to Ke$ha and anyone in between up on that car sterio.

For those flyin’ up in the sky, since it is holiday season there might be some delays, so mentally prepare yourself. Make sure you got a book and a nice pair of headphones to block noise while you jam or snooze out. Also don’t forget a snack. Yes, you are allowed to bring outside grub with you, so don’t waste your precious money on a $2.49 candy bar, there ain’t no Willy Wonka golden ticket under that wrapper.

Depending on how long your flight is, get as little sleep possible the night before so you can crash on the plane or if you’re going international pop the sleeping pills. But warning, remain in your seat at all times, you don’t want to pull a K.SWiig in Bridesmaids.

Lastly, if you are one of the few who is hitch hiking home, just make sure you have freshly manicured hands because ain’t nobody want to pick up someone with grody, paint-chipped nails.

And once you do make it home, sit back, turn the TV on and watch that yule log burn.
