There are a number of ways to get involved at SAU and this week’s campus celebrity has found a few of them. A nursing major and psychology minor from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lindsey Gibney chose St. Ambrose for its Nursing program and small campus.

I wanted to get really involved on campus and I knew that a smaller school was the place for that, and SAU fit all of those requirements!” Gibney said.

This is part of the reason she is involved in CAB as the Nightlife Chair. She wanted to help plan the fun events that they put on throughout the year. In between CAB events, Gibney is getting ready for Dance Marathon’s Big Event that includes dancing with and for their miracle kids for 10 hours straight.

When she isn’t at a CAB or Dance Marathon meeting, Gibney is also a part of Residence Life, National Student Nurses Association, Habitat for Humanity, Campus Ministry and Phi Eta Sigma. Her hobbies include reading, doing crosswords, drinking diet coke, watching wheel of fortune, dancing, singing, hanging out with friends and sleeping.

With plans to graduate in the spring, Gibney’s dream job is to be a nurse practitioner for child and adolescent psychiatry. With the current weather conditions, working somewhere warm has become ideal. She also notes that her mom is her biggest role model.

“My biggest role model is my mom, she is always there for me and everyone else around her and she would do anything for others and I think that is one of the greatest qualities somebody could have,” Gibney said.

Three things you didn’t know about Lindsey? She loves to put glitter on everything, is obsessed with crossword puzzles and wants to own a pet elephant someday.

Her favorite quote to live by is “maybe the past is an anchor holding us back. Maybe you have to let go of who you are to become who you will be.”

It’s easy to get involved on campus, and Gibney looks forward to seeing you at the next CAB event or in April at the Dance Marathon Big Event!
