The Log Book
With the beginning of this spring semester, our HC-UPRM team grabbed an opportunity to incorporate one of the main things us collegiette’s can’t seem to resist; food of course! Whether we are experienced or frustrated chefs; even if we only enjoy a guilty pleasure once in a while, there’s a special joy that comes from sharing the experience with someone else. That’s why our team decided to take this space and share our love for food with all of you collegiettes out there.
One may think that writing and posting food related photos and articles is a washed-off topic; but it has really become a part of our young culture. Michael Idov, NY Magazine writer, expresses that “food’s transformation from a fusty hobby to a youth-culture phenomenon has happened remarkably fast.” Which is incredibly noticeable in college students (especially in Instagram); so why not empower this part of our generation’s culture?
Our First Step
As a UPRM collegiette the options whereas places to eat or drink are not infinite, but there are a few and they are completely worth visiting. For the past two weeks I’ve had an incredible crave for a frappe, but not just any, it had to be from “La Frutera”.
So on Wednesday last week I took the matter into my own hands (well technically the worker’s hands) and went into “La Frutera” just a three minute drive away from campus. Trust me when I say that there is nothing better than a mixed fruit frappe on a typical hot day on campus. This mixed fruit frappe is their signature drink in which you can taste different fresh fruit like: mango, banana, pineapple, coconut, strawberry, papaya and watermelon. Having one of these at least once a week during the stressful days at campus, will truly make you feel fresh and new.
