Don’t waste any more time suffering through the series of disappointing movies Netflix has to offer, check out some of these titles you may have skimmed over!
1. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape
Young Johnny Depp? Who could resist! Aside from the good-looking cast of this Netflix must-see, the movie itself is heartwarming and romantic. Gilbert Grape, a young man stuck living in a boring small town, is charmed by the unexpected visit of a young woman. While he struggles to take care of his family and spend time with his new found love interest, Gilbert’s journey will have you intrigued and loving this less-noticed Netflix flick.
2. Lars And The Real Girl
Although most people associate Ryan Gosling as the starring heart-throb of The Notebook, this Netflix film has him playing a completely different role. With that said, this movie is far from your average romantic comedy. Lars, played by Gosling, is a timid man who finds himself hopelessly attached to a life-size female doll, whom he names Bianca. The relationship he forms with this mannequin ends up being a reflection of both his past and present, making for an extraordinarily unique film that is both quirky and different than what you might expect.
3. The Switch
An endearing love story with quite the twist! Kassie, played by Jennifer Aniston, is a woman who turns to sperm donation as a method of conceiving after a panicked realization that her biological clock is ticking. In a unexpected turn of events, it so happens that the father of her child is in fact her irritating, fun-loving best friend, played by Jason Bateman. Check out this 2010 film that you may have missed while scrolling through your Netflix account!
4. Stuck In Love
As each member of a torn family faces their own relationship troubles, this film will have you captivated by the different story lines and common perspectives on falling in love. While some of the characters find themselves hopeless-romantics, others in this film are more cynical towards the idea of finding someone to commit to. With a creative mix of comedy and romance, this Netflix film is one to lookout for.
5. Jeff, Who Lives at Home
Comedic icons Jason Segel and Ed Helms star in this Netflix must-see as two brothers who live essentially opposite lives. While one is living at home under the roof of their mother, the other is married and making a living for himself. Upon stumbling into one another, these two brothers encounter a series of events that will undoubtedly have you laughing and encouraging friends to check out this film.
6. Warrior
Alright ladies, give your man a break from being forced to watch seasons one through six of Gossip Girl for one night. Instead turn on Warrior, a Netflix film you can both appreciate! Don’t be fooled by this film’s typical, boyish-fighting-movie look. Although it isn’t a romantic comedy, the heart-wrenching story behind the lives of a family torn apart will have you crying on your man’s shoulder by the end. If that doesn’t appeal to you, still let your guy enjoy it and convince yourself to watch it for the toned men boxing with their shirts off!
7. Thelma & Louise
One of the many classic films you can find while looking through Netflix, Thelma and Louise demonstrates a lesson in girl-power and living life to its fullest. The adventures of these two best friends will have you on your toes and begging for more. Released in the 1991, this film is certainly an oldie-but-goodie that’s worth watching!
8. Heathers
This film certainly isn’t your typical Mean Girls. Veronica, played by the one and only Winona Ryder, begins to see bad-boy J.D. Soon after finds herself in a series of crimes with her new man trying to survive high school, and end the social-nightmares she faces on a daily basis. If you are in need of an exciting and comical movie to watch, this Netflix film will undoubtedly deliver!
9. Safe Haven
Since this has become a film commonly compared to The Notebook, you may want to save this Netflix pick for a girl’s night. As Julianne Hough escapes her troubled past relationship, she encounters a new life in a new town with a man who she manages to trust and fall in love with. Soon after, her past finds its way back to her, and the ending isn’t what you’d imagine. This is definitely your typical chick-flick, but worth watching if you’re in the mood for one!
10. Little Black Book
After being convinced by a manipulative new coworker to dive into the dirty details of her boyfriend’s past, Stacy is surprised to find some interesting relationships he shared not so long ago. While she is pulled into a tangled web of exes, her boo is out of town and unaware of any of the new “friends” his girlfriend is making. Starring actress Brittney Murphy, she does great in this comical treat; find it on Netflix under romance movies!
