As Valentine’s Day is approaching, some of us are looking to sappy romantic comedies and our two best friends–Ben and Jerry–for a bit of comfort. But remember that V-Day is one of love—all kinds of love! Use this day to remind your friends how much they mean to you, and how much of your heart they have stolen. The following crafts can still be made in front of the glowing light of How Harry Met Sally, and the coziness of your own dorm room:
“I Need S’more Friends Like You!”
What you will need:
- Little baggies
- Heart shaped white or pink marshmallows
- Hershey kisses or mini chocolate bars
- Crackers
Organize the materials, address to your friends, and include a cute note such as “Dear Allison, you melt my heart!”
“You’re the PURR-Fect Friend”
What you will need:
- Colored construction paper
- Markers, pens, crayons, paint, sparkles etc.
- Googley eyes
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- Motivation, time, and creativity
Simply cut out hearts, design an animal from those hearts, and attach a friendly note to your heart-dog saying, “Pugs and kisses!” or to your heart-fish saying, “What a good catch!”
“I have a minion reasons why you’re my best friend!”
What you will need:
- A Twinkie
- Blue, pink or red, and black construction paper
- Googely eyes
- Tin foil
- A black marker
- Scissors
Cut the black construction paper into a strip and attach this around the top of the twinkie, cut the tin foil into a circle and glue this to the top of the construction paper. Glue the eye on top. Cut the blue paper into a thick strip and attach this to the Twinkie after drawing on a few pockets. Cut the red or pink paper into a heart shape and write a clever message to your friend.

What you will need:
- Cardboard roll
- A few cotton balls for the hair
- White, black, and pink markers for the facial features
- White construction paper for the clothes
- Red, gold, and silver pipe cleaners for wings and the bow and arrow
- Peach colored felt for the hands (or color in construction paper)
- Glue and scissors
Color the facial features first, shape pipe cleaners into the bow and arrow and attach them to each other and the hands, attach the clothes to the roll, glue the hands to the roll, lay everything to dry, and then attach the wings and hair. Hand to your closest roomie or suitemate with a witty greeting!
