Too many times women find themselves staring blankly at their closet completely overwhelmed with picking out an outfit to wear to an interview. It’s supposed to be a time to show off who you are and your style, because what a person wears says a lot about them on a first impression. Depending on the job, this occasion calls for a certain business dress code. Whether you are looking into a job somewhere conservative or liberal, employers will want to see you in more refined attire for the interview. It all comes down to the question of how do you represent yourself in your outfit without going outside of the professional dress code? My best suggestion would be to go for a business casual look. Even the name brings in both elements that you are trying to mix. Wear at least one piece that screams “you” all over it but then keep the rest of the outfit pretty simple and corporate-esqe.
Now a days the fashion laws are being rewritten. You don’t have to stick to the basic black suit anymore…unless that’s your thing. It’s okay to wear a bold pattern or color shirt paired with a neutral bottom. Even the reverse could go nicely: an animal print pencil skirt with a solid colored button up and neural blazer to tie it all together, it works!
Accessorizing, once frowned upon, is also making a come back. Be careful not to pile on your entire jewelry box, but a single statement piece would make a classic ensemble stand out. A pair of stunning earrings and a bracelet to match could be all an outfit needs to really set it off. What you wear to the interview is almost as important as what is on your resume, or what you say. It will be a way to leave a lasting impression on your future employer. Be sure that it is a good impression.
