Are you trying to decide where to go with your honey for Valentine’s Day? Look no further! We’ve got the five best restaurants in San Luis Obispo, from extremely affordable to super romantic!

1. Splash Café Seafood & Grill

Splash Café is a great place to go if you’re looking for great food, a laidback scene and an affordable price. If your goal isn’t an extremely fancy dinner date, this is the place to go. They have a range of different foods from seafood to traditional American, but what they are most known for is their clam chowder. No need to make reservations, just walk on in, pick out a nice table for two and you can enjoy a romantic dinner for under $10 a person!

“Splash has the best calm chowder ever! I wouldn’t suggest eating it on a date though! Get something less messy,” psychology junior Michelle Van Ripper said.

2. Eatz

If you want affordable food that’s also healthy, fresh and a little fancy, then Eatz is the place to go. They have an extremely diverse menu with everything from burgers, to bacon macaroni and cheese, to DIY pizza. Also, it is a cozy venue downtown with a very friendly staff that is sure to make you and your date feel comfortable. Prices range from about $8 – $11, making it a great spot for a romantic date on a college budget.

3. Big Sky Café

Talk about a romantic setting! Big Sky Café not only has a great environment for setting the mood, but amazing organic farm fresh food as well! It’s an excellent choice for couples that want to sit down, maybe order a bottle of wine, be waited on and still not break the bank. With prices ranging from $10 – $20 per item, it’s the perfect place to go and spurge a little. “It’s like the perfect setting to feel comfortable in,” journalism junior Brittany Graham said. “It’s romantic, and you won’t feel bad with how much he’s paying!”

4. Goshi Japanese Restaurant

There’s just something so romantic about sharing sushi rolls with your date — such an easy excuse to sit close to one another and share some intimate time. Goshi Japanese Restaurant is a SLO favorite for fresh sushi, teriyaki chicken and more! Like most sushi restaurants, prices are a little high, but what better excuse to treat yourselves than Valentine’s Day?

5. Novo Restaurant & Lounge

If you really want to go all-out this Valentine’s Day, Novo Restaurant & Grill  is the place to go. One of the most romantic settings ever, you can eat dinner right next to the San Luis Obispo Creek under a canopy of lights and hanging tree branches. Prices range from $10 – $35, but they’re well worth it, as you will be enjoying global cuisine with fresh local flavors. Go ahead and go big with your love this Valentine’s Day — you deserve it!

A lover of all things outdoors and extreme. Buffalo chicken wings are everything to me. If I'm sleeping, only the brave dare wake me up. Most of all, a lover of life.
