Girl Code—what we live and breathe by as ladies, especially college ones. So, it’s no secret why the hit MTV show Girl Code is so hilarious, but also so accurate. Here’s a list of some of the best and funniest tips from this show for anyone who needs a refreshing on what girl code is really all about.

1. Compliments are always a good way to make others and yourself feel better. So spread some around and you’ll get some back!

2. When you’re feeling low on self-esteem from looking at celebs with perfect hair, perfect faces, and perfect lives, just remember that nothing is as it seems.

3. Purses are magical things—but use them wisely. (Personally, need to work on that one…)

4. It doesn’t matter if you look like Barbie or Beyoncé on the outside, you still need to make your personality and character lovely too!

5. Don’t be friends with your ex if the feelings are still there because that’s a disaster waiting to happen. It may be hard at first, but it’s best to forget him and move on to the tons of new, available guys just waiting to meet you!

6. Weight and staying in shape is a tricky topic with us girls. Staying healthy by picking healthier eating choices is great, just don’t force diets on others and put them down for it.

7. Dress for success when needed and dress for comfort when needed—but if you can do both at once with leggings, then why not? When in doubt, leggings are the answer, my friends.
8. Confidence is key. Love yourself and accept your flaws, because everyone has some.

9. Jealousy is obviously a natural thing, but don’t let it overpower you. Focus on yourself because you’re great and don’t have to fret about others.

10. Lastly, never forget nobody’s perfect. (Even though it may be the title of a Hannah Montana song—it’s still relevant!) Everyone makes mistakes, just learn from them.

U Mass Amherst

I'm now a senior at UMass Amherst & started Her Campus my freshman year. I had just transferred from Clemson University in South Carolina and it allowed me to find friends immediately. HC also helped open myself up to a passion of mine - journalism and writing. Additionally, Her Campus helped me meet people who inspired me to get more involved on campus - which is why I joined Greek life as well as got a job for student activities and involvement. As sappy as it is, HC has changed my college experience in so many ways. Besides HC, I am a double major in journalism and biology, and work as a tour guide and for Student Activities & Involvement. I am the VP of Alumnae Relations of Sigma Kappa Beta Eta, involvement in a number of other organizations, and I love mozzarella sticks and Nutella (but not together!)
