Meet Gayle Tadler, a 19 year old Finance and Entertainment & Arts Management major. She came to Drexel from Wilmington, Delaware and is currently a sophomore. Along with just being an awesome individual, she’s involved with SAFAC, DIBA and SPARK, along with being a peer leader for Lebow. If you think she sounds busy now, just wait until you hear about this go-getter’s plans for her career!

Gayle didn’t waste anytime once she got to Drexel last year and immediately began her quest to get involved with everything that interested her. She applied and was interviewed for both of her current positions on the board of DIBA and SAFAC. She joined SPARK last year when it was a completely new club and engaged herself in it so much the president asked if she would like to be vice president. For those of you keeping score at home, Gayle is holding a position in all of the organizations she’s involved with. That’s 3 positions. How many sophomores do you know who have accomplished this feat?

If you’re falling a little behind Gayle’s packed resume, we’ll do a little review for you. SAFAC is the Student Activity Fund Allocation Committee which assists and facilitates the student organization fund allocation process. Confused? In simple terms she helps decide what that $100 activity fee every student pays at the beginning of the year goes on to support. DIBA stands for Drexel International Business Association which is a club that hosts events with an international and business focus. The organization known as SPARK is Students Promoting Art through Random Acts of Kindness, and it is basically a club that works on projects for a cause, the goal being to bring students together to create art with a purpose.

Now that the multiple acronyms of Gayle’s life are covered, it’s time to describe what exaclty Gayle does within each of these organizations. She’s a general liaison for SAFAC, which means she helps certain groups apply for funding and works with the board to make decisions. She is the Marketing Chair for DIBA which means she creates promotional strategies for the club and it’s events. Last but not least, she is the Vice President of SPARK which means she works with the President and Treasurer to come up with project ideas within the budget.

Gayle is very outgoing and loves to meet and work with others who have similar interests, something she handles with ease. As a Peer Leader, she gets to interact with freshmen and help them navigate their first year in college, something that taps into Gayle’s passion to help people. She also enjoys helping student organizations through her participation in SAFAC.

Luckily for Gayle, not much is hard about holding these positions, because they are all activities that she is passionate about and enthusiastic to take part in. Her only struggle, and it’s a minor one, is trying to avoid conflicts with other events and studies.

Speaking of schedule conflicts, her participation in all of the organizations has made her really learn how to organize her time well. Her multiple involvements have also really opened her eyes to many different people and events she wouldn’t have been a part of if she wasn’t involved in these groups, which really enhances her university experience.

Her involvement in all these organizations hasn’t really influenced her career aspirations. Instead it’s more like they’ve increased her interest in finance and the arts. It’s definitely kept her motivated to work in these fields in the future and to follow her current career path. For her first co-op, she will be working in the finance division at BlackRock and she’s excited for this opportunity to give her a strong financial industry experience. She’s looking forward to potentially co-oping with creatively focused organizations in their financial departments.

Whenever she finds a moment of free time, Gayle indulges in some of her favorite activities. She’s really into music and spends most of her money on concerts in the area. A huge fan of Philly’s great music scene, her goal is to attend one once a week. Along with her admiration for great music, she shares a fondness for the variety of art museums in the area. Her favorite one is the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) for its close proximity to campus and always being pay as you wish.

As for post-Drexel , Gayle hopes to live in the UK for a few years, working in finance and eventually working on the business side of an artistic or creatively-focused organization. Jumping off from her experience with multiple organizations, there is nothing stopping this ambitious lady. The fact of the matter is, this girl is going places. Whether it be at an art museum or in her office in some major company’s finance department, you can be sure Ms. Tadler will lead an exciting and adventerous life.

Lindsey is a senior at Drexel University, majoring in operations management & bus. analytics. She has been with Her Campus Drexel for four years and was CC for the middle two. Along with living the city life, she takes an active interest in street style, putting together puzzles and binge-watching her current Netflix obsession. She actually calls Montana her true home so now you can say you know that someone actually lives there ;). When she's in Philly, you can find her in Center City scouring the racks of thrift stores, Old Navy, and H&M if she's not on campus enjoying the multiple food trucks or catching up on the readings she put off until the last day.
