Spring Break Fashion Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

With the light of spring break finally appearing at the end of the dark midterm tunnel, one thing on every collegiette’s mind is what are the newest trends of the season? And while warm weather may be weeks (and hopefully not months) off in the northeast it’s never too early to revitalize your wardrobe with some new pieces. So, without further ado here is your guide to the newest spring break fashion trends:

1) Kimonos– Perfect for dressing up a plain t-shirt or tank top, these add to any outfit without weighing you down. They come in tons of colors, designs and fabrics to fit any personality.

2) High-waisted bathing suits– Not really into the itsy-bitsy teeny weeny bikini? This is the ideal trend for you! These high-waist bathing suit bottoms give you full coverage while still getting a glowing tan on your abs. They’re also perfect for a day when you’ll be a little more active than lying on a beach.

High-waist bottoms (in various colors), Victoria’s Secret, $18.50

Worldly girl high-waisted bikini bottom, Forever 21, $14.80

3) Maxi skirts– Last year was all about this maxi dress, but this year it’s all about the skirts. The perfect thing about maxi skirts is that you can pair them with a multitude of tops to make dozens of outfits.

Tribal print maxi skirt, Charlotte Russe, $19.99

Planet gold junior’s m-slit maxi skirt, Macy’s, $19.99

4) Crop tops– A close cousin to the belly shirts of the nineties, this trend is making a comeback in a big way. They’re a perfect pair for maxi skirts for a day look or skater skirts for a night on the town which make them ideal for fitting into your small carry on as you head off to your spring break destination.

Off duty striped crop top, Forever 21, $5.80

Lace top, H&M, $17.95

Carlita crop top, Tobi, $33.00

5) Fringe– This fringe trend is not limited to one type of clothing. Whether it’s bathing suits, skirts or tops, this style is definitely here to stay for at least this season.

Photo lips fringe tank, Wet Seal, $19.90
