The time has come once again. Scandal, featuring the infamous Olivia Pope played by the spectacular Kerry Washington, has returned back to television for its spring premiere episode on Feb. 27. The culmination of scandals could not be any juicier for this season 3. Sally has murdered her husband, Olivia’s terrorist mother is on the loose, Olivia’s dad has been demoted from the secret organization B6-13, and Harrison’s past has begun to unfold.

In the midst of the show’s return, it’s only fair that USF HerCampus chapter highlight the reasons why we love Scandal.  Check out the reasons below.

1)  The Scandal

Shonda Rhimes, the producer of Scandal, has hooked fans with scandalous and suspenseful plots. The love triangles, corrupt administration, coup d’etat against the president, affairs, murders, Olivia’s clients, and secret CIA organizations featured on the show continue to make fans beg for more. Scandal is the epitome of sensational.

2)  Olivia’s amazing wardrobe

Every Thursday night, Olivia Pope amazes us with her classy and sophisticated ensembles. Her infamous white trench coats, two piece suites, separates, dresses, and pajamas dazzle fans. Most importantly, her Prada purses featured on the show demand attention. Lyn Paolo, the costume designer for the show, is certainly the best. Who knows what’s in store for Olivia Pope in season 3.

3)  Olivia Pope inspires

Olivia’s strong sense of independence moves her audience beyond the screen. Her confidence is contagious as she can fix any problem that comes her way. Despite her strong personality, Olivia remains vulnerable to the people she loves as any person would. USF collegiette Vanessa Garcia, a psychology major, admits that Olivia’s character is perhaps the most relatable as she is truly one of the girls.

“I love that I want to strive to be like her, strong and determined,” Garcia said. Yet, I can relate when it comes to that one guy, we go back to human nature.”

4)  Thursday nights

Fans can’t pass up the anticipated Thursday nights when Scandal episodes premiere on ABC. It’s the perfect night to gather with friends, watch the show and gossip on social media. Can you say girls’ night? Catch episodes Thursday nights at 10/9 p.m. central on ABC.

5)  The catchphrases and dialogue

During the course of show, several catch phrases have become very popular. “Consider it handled” and “You can’t afford me” are perhaps the most iconic phrases said on the show. “Over a cliff” and many more have become memorable too. Fans can’t forget the tight but intense dialogue on the show as well. The monologues are definitely unforgettable too.

6)  Olivia Pope’s walk

No one can forget Olivia’s famous strut. Fans love to see her walk away. Her confident walk screams attitude and mesmerizes fan with each step. Olivia literally works the scene every episode. She can give any model a run for their job.
