Spring Break can be a great time to catch up on the reading you don’t have time for during the school year. If you are looking for a book to take to the beach with you this week, here are our 5 top picks for your reading enjoyment!

 

1. A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway

Hemingway recounts time he spent as a young American living in 1920s Paris among other great minds such as Gertrude Stein and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Hemingway is an easy read and the whole story is so romantic! 

 
2. The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons from Extraordinary Lives by Katie Couric
 
Katie Couric put together this anthology of great advice, as told by a great number of public figures ranging from Meryl Streep to Colin Powell to Drew Brees. It makes for an easy read because every section is only an average of two pages long, so it’s easy to set down in between Spring Break activities; but, the advice and stories from these incredible people will undoubtedly stay with you. 

3. Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis

 

A New York Times best seller, this book chronicles the life of Katie Davis, a woman who moved from Nashville to Uganda at the age of 18. Her story is about life as a mother of 19 adopted children, a founder of the nonprofit organization Amazima Ministries, and a lover of her friends and family.  Spiritually uplifting, her narrative does not shy away from the intense difficulty she faces each day and the paralleled intense love she feels for this place and her community.

4. The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson

This murder mystery is the perfect conflation of historical fact and fiction. The main narrative is based in the true story of the serial killer at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago who used this setting to ultimately kill his victims. Gripping and suspense filled, you won’t be able to put this one down.
