I thought the looks at the Oscars this year were especially lovely.  While there were some mishaps- Emma Watson being an example of a major dud this year, which obviously upsets me because she usually looks so great and just seems to be an all around great gal- the overall crop of actors and actresses did well. So lets look at this years top five big winners!

1. Lupita Nyong’o

I realize saying that I love Lupita is kind of cliché at this point, but she really did crush the Oscars this year, not to mention the entire awards season. It is always so cool to see a newcomer on the fashion stage, because they are often not afraid of bold colors and cuts. One word of advice to you Lupita, watch out because I am certain Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are going to try and adopt you whether you like it or not.

2. Sandra Bullock

Another stunner in blue, Sandra knows how to dress for her age, and the deep color is divine. She also did a good job of not going overboard with her accessories, which is important because of the neckline detail.

3. Charlize Theron

Charlize clearly gets me because she opted for an all black and dramatic number. While on someone else the top half of that dress could look like a medieval gown, Charlize makes it look so chic. Her short hair helps this, and the texture on the bottom balance out the top. I realize that it is a thing to wear an outstanding color on the red carpet, but sometimes a one-color note can really set a nice tone.

4. Viola Davis

I am so glad that Viola Davis was back at the Oscars back this year as a presenter because her look was amaze. From hair to shoe, she really looked unbelievable. Another think I like about Viola Davis is that she is totally jacked. She isn’t stick thin and she isn’t afraid to be strong on the inside as well as the outside. She is buff and hott, something all girls can look up to!

5. Bette Midler

What a sleeper pick! Her dress was unreal and it was the sort of thing that looked great on her but also could have looked great on anyone else. The cut and the cap sleeves were amazing, and her red bag was a perfect accent. I think she might know that she is kind of C-list, but her dress is A+++++ list.

I would also like to make a shout out to Ellen on her fantastic tuxedo looks throughout the night. Fierce, and so fun. Go Girl!!!
