HC Survival Kits: The Low-Down on What’s Inside

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C Mich chapter.

Among many others, receiving packages filled with free samples of amazing products is a definite perk of being part of the HC team! A few weeks ago, the ladies from HC nationals hooked us up with some pretty sweet Spring Break Survival Kits. I’m unpacking mine and giving you guys a peak at the great things some wonderful companies sent us. Let’s take a look-

neuro SLEEP

Say goodnight and sleep like a baby! One of my personal favorites inside the kits was the Neuro Sleep water. It is actually scientifically proven to give you a good night’s sleep naturally, without the drag of other sleeping aids the next morning. I gave it a try the first night we got the package and got hooked. Not only does it promote restful sleep, but it also helps normalize sleep patterns in a same, non-habit forming. Extra perks- it tastes really good, is all natural and only 35 calories. We got samples of the Mellow Mango flavor, but try the Peach Apricot and Tangerine Dream.

ZOTOS Biotera Ultra Color Care Conditioner

I recently dyed my hair from my natural blonde to dark brown and now I swear by this stuff! I’ve noticed it protects my color against the build-up from hard water. What’s even better is that it has started to put the moisture back in my hair I’ve lost in the dying process and dry winter. I went and picked up a big bottle of this at my local Sally’s Beauty Supply after I gave the samples a try!  Now, instead of using my leave-in conditioner, I put this in my hair and the end of my shower and let it sit for about 6-7 minutes.

TRESemmé 7 Day Keratin Smooth System

I have four words for this stuff: YOU MUST BUY IT. I’m not kidding. Again, between this awful winter and persistently dying my hair, this stuff has started to make it look less like straw and more like actual healthy human hair.  I used to get keratin smoothing treatments at my salon, but this stuff is way easier (and not to mention cheaper). It’s pretty neat how it works- used in three parts (shampoo, conditioner and heat protectant), the Thermal Technology is activated by the heat of your flat iron. This essentially means it’s treating your hair while you straighten, dry, curl it, etc. A tip from my personal experience- sometimes the third step Heat Activation Treatment can make your hair feel greasy. Try parting your hair in three layers from your scalp to the ends and work a pea sized amount through the bottom two thirds, avoiding your roots. This helps distribute the treatment where a lot of the damage is without causing build-up in your roots.
