Q: How did you get involved with music and how long have you been playing?
A: I didn’t start playing music until my junior year of high school when I had to complete a graduation project. I liked Nickel Creek so I decided to try out the mandolin. My dad plays the guitar so he helped me get started.
Q: How would you describe your music style?
A: Definitely a folk acoustic genre. I mostly use the mandolin, but I recently got a guitar so I hope to start incorporating that soon. I might want to use an electric guitar eventually.
Q: Do you always play solo?
A: No. I write most of my own songs, so I do that process by myself, but I love playing with other people. Jamming is one of my favorite things about music.
Q: Who, or what, are some of your biggest music influences?
A: I got into the mandolin because of Chris Thile, who I first heard in Nickel Creek. I also love his work in The Goat Rodeo Sessions and Punch Brothers. Some of my other favorites are Iron and Wine, Kings of Convenience, and The Dilliards.
Q: Where do you see your music taking you in the future?
A: Right now I’m just playing at local coffee and tea shops when I get the opportunity. I’ve released one album but hope to record more in the future. But other than that I don’t know, I just love playing.

Q: Is there anything else we should know about you and your music?
A: I’m hoping to start a band with other students at App pretty soon, so be on the lookout for new recordings.
