We have all been waiting anxiously to see who will be representing The University of Tampa for the 2014-2015 year, and the results are finally in! Drumroll please………
KRISTIN ANDERSON AND JACKIE FRENCH HAVE WON THE ELECTION!
Her Campus UT is proud to announce that our former Campus Celebrity, Kristin Anderson, will be the new face of UT for next year! We couldn’t be more excited to announce the news to the UT student body. It is safe to say that we are in great hands for next year, because Kristin and Jackie will do a great job at taking care of UT!
Kristin chose to run with Jackie as her Vice President because they have known each other for a while, and she believes Jackie is going to be such a great partner to have by her side. They have worked in numerous groups together such as the Orientation START Team, Honors Program, Diplomats and Student Government.
“Jackie and I are wonderful accountability partners and are always pushing each other to work harder and become more innovative. I truly value all the work Jackie has put into her activities at UT. She is persistent and extremely self-aware of her talents and best characteristics. Now working with Jackie every day we are becoming close friends and share similar goals and aspirations for UT’s campus”, said Anderson.
When asked about how the campaign process went, Kristin had a fabulous answer. “Running for Student Government President and Vice President has been a blast. It’s one of the hardest and most time consuming things I’ve done at UT, but it is also one of the most rewarding. Each day Jackie and I campaign I am continually reminded of what wonderful students make up the UT community. We are truly blessed to go to a school with such diversity and energetic atmosphere.”
Kristin decided to run for Student Government President because of her love for the school and for Student Government. She has worked for Student Government for the past three years and has loved every person she has come into contact with along the way. She feels that UT has been one of the greatest opportunities to come her way, and is looking forward to give back to a school that has given her so much. What are some of the projects the dynamic duo plans to take on? The answer is a whole lot! They plan to try to improve the hours of dining halls, labs and the library as well as to continue to boost school spirit. They are also hoping to build and foster relationships with administration and various campus offices.
We cannot forget about the incredible runners up in the election, Junior Robyn Hurrell and Sophomore Kyle Benus! Robyn and Kyle did a great job at promoting their campaign using a Christmas theme all week. They had their elves working diligently all week, in hopes of helping them get their message out to the student body. Some of the projects these two wanted to tackle was to install hammocks, make receipts from meal swipes more environmentally friendly, and better student parking.
Although these two did not come out on top, we will continue to see their faces all around campus due to how involved they are. Robyn is an RA in Vaughn, the President of Spartan Toastmasters, has participated in E.L.I.T.E. Outdoors and is on the Executive board for the business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. Kyle works in the Office of Admissions as a campus tour guide, Spartan Toastmasters member and is the Recruitment Chair in his fraternity, Sigma Chi.
It is safe to say that this election was extremely close in votes! A big thank you to everyone who took time to place your vote, as we cannot make changes at UT without the help of everyone! Congratulations to Kristin and Jackie, as they take on the next major project in their life! We can’t wait to see what they bring to UT!
