Campus Cutie: Nick Cipriano

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

Year: Sophomore

Major/Minor: Psychology with a Communications minor

From: Long Island, NY

HC: 3 words to describe yourself? Tan (because it’s the first thing people notice about me), loquacious (because I like the word and I talk all the time), and driven (because I work hard at what I do).

HC: Celebrity Crush? Jennifer Lawrence. She’s gorgeous and amazing.

HC: Hobbies? I’m really involved in the Marist Singers and now apparently MCCTA. Other than that, I just love to hang out with my friends and goof around. I used to read a lot, but nowadays I just don’t have the time.

HC: Dream job? Anything that involves helping people. Part of the reason I’m a Psych major is that I want to help people feel like they’re not alone in what they struggle with. The world sucks enough as it is; no one should have to go through difficult things on their own.

HC: Ideal date? When I’m home, I always like to go to this coffee house near me. It’s not super formal, and it’s easy to make conversation with someone in that kind of setting.

HC: Favorite movie? Anything directed by Quentin Tarantino.

HC: Ideal place to live? Even though I haven’t seen much of the world, I’d have to say Italy because of the incredible diversity in the culture and the geography. Plus I have family there, and Italy is basically the center of my religion, which is Catholicism.

HC: Favorite Marist Memory so far? Singers camp and all of the formal performances that Singers has done, like Night on Broadway and Love in the Afternoon. These always show me not only how close the Singers community is, but how incredibly talented the entire group is. And I love the fact that we always do these events for a worthwhile cause, and that we as a group can benefit something bigger than ourselves.

HC: Ideal lazy day? I’m always busy! But I’d probably either binge watch Netflix and sleep, or just goof off with my friends.

HC: First thing you notice about a girl? The eyes. They lead you to look at the rest of her face, but that’s always the first thing I go off of. Eyes can tell you a lot about a person.

All this and a killer smile? Seems like a great fit for this week’s Marist Campus Cutie!

Skyler Van Valkenburgh is a sophomore at Marist College with a major in Communications, a concentration in Journalism, and a minor in Theatre. She loves to sing, dance, and act more than pretty much anything in the world (seriously, ask her friends). Some of her other interests include reading, spending time with her fellow Red Foxes, and copy editing for the Marist student newspaper, The Circle. She has hopes of one day writing for a major newspaper or magazine. Only time will tell how far this collegiette will go! You can follow her on Twitter and Instagram: @skylerleighvv
