You complain about how hard your classes are on a daily basis.

Accounting, Business Statistics, Information Systems, Finance…yeah these classes are hard for anyone. You spend every session in the library thinking to yourself how much you want to switch majors because you’re sick of the difficulty. After spending two hours on one accounting problem, you still go back to your room and complain to your roommate how much your life sucks.

Even though the building is a circle, you still get lost in John Sykes College of Business.

You would assume a circular building would be easy to navigate, right? Wrong. After being a third year business major, it is still extremely difficult to find your way around the college of business. There are random little hallways everywhere that confuse the hell out of you. It doesn’t help either that every classroom and hallway look exactly the same. We all can say we have accidentally walked into the wrong class before because of confusion. Oops!

You spend more time in John Sykes than your dorm room.

Having 18 credits of business classes leaves you feeling as if you live in the college of business. You could probably walk from your room to the outside doors of John Sykes because you have been there way too many times. Towards the end of the semester you consider sleeping on the couches in the front because you pretty much live there.

Half of your classes are filled with international students.

It is no secret that UT is filled with international students-which we love! Since international business is the most popular major at UT, they fill the seats in all of our classes. This is amazing because you are able to sit next to classmates who are from the most interesting countries. The ability to do this is something many other students at other schools do not have.

You don’t understand why any of your friends are science majors.

Who finds chemistry and physics fun? That’s right, your nerdy science friends. You catch them writing 50 page lab reports while searching through their 600 page textbooks, and you just don’t get it. This is partly because as a business major you can take chemistry and society…aka the most basic and easiest chemistry class. We can all come to an agreement that a man in a suit and tie is much sexier than a man in an ugly lab coat. Guys put away the lab goggles and put on your sexy glasses. Who wants a scientist when you can have an entrepreneur?

When it comes down to it, us business majors wouldn’t trade this education program for anything. Even though we are stressed out on a daily basis, the long term impact will be extremely rewarding. Keep on pushing, business majors!
