Recapping The Best Moments of the Year at BU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

We worked hard. And we certainly played harder. But this school year is coming to an end. Perhaps, before moving on we should take a moment to reflect on we loved most from this 2013-2014 academic year. From early school sponsored events like Splash to later Boston events like Marathon Monday, we’ve definitely had some time well spent here at BU. Here’s what some of you had to say about your favorite BU moment this year:

With 400+ clubs and organizations at BU, there were plenty of groups and activities for us to enjoy.

Sarah Moran, CGS ’16

My friend and I went to Quebec this year with the BU Ski and Snowboard Club. I had never been to Canada before and with a BU Club was the best way to make my first trip there. We had the best time snowboarding, meeting new people, and exploring and seeing what Canada had to offer. Can’t wait for next year’s trip!

Queentela Benjamin, SAR ’17

My favorite moment was finding my niche on campus through BU’s cultural organizations. I greatly enjoyed the social events put on by BU’s African Students Organization.

Demi McEntee, CGS ’16

Going to BINGO night with all of my friends and winning cool prizes was my favorite.

Cheryl Lang, SAR ’14

My favorite moment was going to SAR’s boat cruise for the night. It was a great dance party and tons of fun.

We know how to enjoy ourselves, but we’ve also had a great time this year getting involved and putting in those needed BU man-hours.

My favorite moment from my BU school year was studying abroad in London this past fall. The experience was one I’ll never forget. I was able to work at a dream internship with a British fashion designer, travel all around Europe to places I may never be again, and grew closer to some of my best friends now.

Rebecca Shinners, COM ’14,

Seeing all of my hard work pay off and getting offered my dream internship this year made me feel accomplished and ready to take on the real world!

Michalia Root, CAS ’15

My favorite moment was volunteering with the BU Red Cross at the Boston Marathon Medical Tents after doing it last year. It was epic and I’ve never been so proud to be a part of something so great!

But who can forget how much BU pride and spirit we continue to show year after year!

Lauren Extrom, CAS ’16

Singing the national anthem at the Boston Red Sox game with my a cappella group, In Achord, was my favorite.

Stephanie Tran, CGS ’16

A favorite moment from BU this year was traveling with the BU Pep Band to Madison Square Garden to play at Red Hot Hockey (BU vs. Cornell) and being able to wander around NYC until 2am.

And it is no secret that Marathon Monday continues to be an exhilarating experience for us terriers each year.

Allison Penn, COM ’16

My favorite event from this BU school year was Marathon Monday. There was so much spirit and pride among the runners and spectators during the marathon up and down the course. The day was absolutely beautiful and felt as if it were summertime. On Patriot’s Day 2014, I was truly proud to be a Bostonian and a Boston University student cheering on the runners and carrying a legacy to rise from the ashes from the 2013 Marathon Bombings.

Haley Skov, COM ‘16

This is pretty recent, but the atmosphere throughout all of Boston during Marathon Monday was absolutely incredible. There was so much love in the city, especially along the race route; I don’t think I’ve ever felt that blessed to have been able to experience something.

This year was definitely a blast! But let’s see if we can top it next year…until next year my fellow terriers!
