A Year in Review: My Top 5 Memories

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

College is known as the time where you will make life-long friends, explore new things: good or bad, and create lasting memories. Every year of college is a new chapter in the story of your life; each semester different than the last. I can definitely say that I have had some ups and downs this year, but I wouldn’t go back in time and change any of what happened. These are my top five memories this year (in no particular order).

1.     A favorite memory of mine was when I got my little. I always dreamed of being a big sister, but I never thought it would actually happen. I had the best time crafting for her even though it was the most stressful week. Although it was a hectic time, I would never take back any of those hours if it meant I couldn’t have my little. I literally couldn’t imagine having anyone else.

2.     Right before winter break I applied to be a Style Guru Intern for CollegeFashionista. I applied on a whim and never thought that I would actually get it. When I got the email that I was chosen as an intern I was so surprised, but excited to get this opportunity.

3.     I have become very determined this past year to succeed in the communications field so I applied to so many different internships for the summer. I didn’t expect to have to do so much work and face so much rejection. However, after many months of back and forth emails with companies, and interviews, I finally was offered an internship at Paper Magazine. This will be my first “real-world” job experience and I am looking forward to this experience.

4.     I am very passionate in helping my sorority grow and gain more recognition on campus. Since I joined freshman year, I have always wanted to be recruitment chair. This position is very crucial to the future of my sorority and I felt confident if I were elected I would do an excellent job. This semester, I was nominated and then elected to be the recruitment chair for the upcoming fall. Although I am nervous because I do have a lot of responsibility, I am ecstatic that I get to have such an active role in my sorority.

5.     Throughout high school and even my first year of college I thought I knew what I wanted to do as a career once I graduated. I thought and had accepted that I was going to follow this certain life path which was education. However, I realized that might not be in the cards for me. I realized a new passion of mine which was journalism and communication. I feel that this year I came to many realizations about myself and really started to believe in my potential which I had never done before. I really feel that I have matured and grown a lot this year and I can’t wait for next year!
