Best apps for students this summer!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

With summer just around the corner, students are busy making plans to reconcile with friends and family, explore the world and take a relaxing vacation. No matter what the plan, there are an endless number of cool apps that students can take advantage of. Here is a list of some useful, fun and unique apps we found:

1. Ibotta

Ibotta, the world’s no.1 leading retail app, is helping students earn cash back on groceries, clothing, health and beauty products, leisure actives and more. For students who would appreciate saving some extra cash, they can earn cash rebates from businesses such as Nordstrom, Sephora, Forever21, AMC Theatre, Target, Best Buy and more. Users simply unlock rebates by answering polls, watching short videos or sharing purchases on social media. Once rebates are unlocked, shoppers can upload a photo of the receipt as proof-of-purchase to receive cash rebates deposited straight into their bank accounts in as little as one hour via Venmo or Paypal.

2. Anomo

With the summer season upon us, the latest social discovery app Anomo is helping college students develop quality relationships and navigate unfamiliar places. Whether going back home for summer break, leaving the country for a study abroad program or traveling to other cities, Anomo connects people who have similar interests to help foster friendships, love interests and connections. The app has been called the “masked ball of social media,” letting users represent themselves with anonymous avatars. Once they feel comfortable revealing personal photos and information, users can choose what information and to whom they will reveal this.

3. Flipboard

Flipboard is the perfect one stop app for students who are always reading up on current news. The app compiles a “flipboard” of the hottest daily news from all over the world. Easy on the eyes, simple and straightforward, the app helps students stay on top of all the headlines and come back to school more knowledgeable than ever.

4. Nudge

Want to get in shape this summer? Download the app, Nudge and track dietary intake, hydration, exercise, indulgences, sleep and energy levels to watch the app generate an indexed health score. Throughout the summer, watch the score increase with lifestyle changes. Clean eating and a healthy lifestyle will boost users’ mood as well as tone their summer body. Join clubs on the app to exchange tips, recipes, support and inspiration. Some of the clubs on the platform include the Recipe Network, Stress Less, Outdoor Adventure and Weight Loss.

5. Nito

Have fun and send animated video messages looking like your favorite character to friends and family. New animation app, Nito, uses facial mapping technology to allow users to animate 3D characters using the front facing cameras on their iPhones and iPads. Nito provides 11 free characters and 3 paid ones that users can choose from to send 15-second long videos. The videos can be shared on social media or sent as a private message via email or text.
