Back To School Style:
How to Make Your Summer Wardrobe Work for Class
Welcome back collegiettes! I hope you’ve all enjoyed your summers tanning, traveling, interning, and everything in between (I know I have)! Now that summer has come to a close, it comes time to retire our cut offs and crop tops in lieu of something a little more professor-appropriate. For me, at least, this is one of the worst parts of starting school – I just figured out my summer wardrobe, and I have to start dressing for class already? But luckily, there are a few ways you can recycle your fav summer pieces and revamp your wardrobe – don’t say goodbye to your floral dress just yet! Here are some tips to make your warm-weather pieces work for class.
Throw On a Blazer
Transform summer dresses instantly by pairing them with a casual blazer of your choosing – trust me, there’s no quicker way to make an ensemble look professional. Try a white or nude jacket to keep it light and complement florals/pastels, or go for black to give dresses an edge (besides, New Yorkers wear black year round.)
Swap Crop Tops for Work Shirts
If your go-to summer look was a pair of cutoffs and a belly top, don’t worry – hope isn’t lost! Dress up your fav denim shorts with a workshirt or button down, and you’re good to go. Pair with ballet flats, a leather belt, and a statement necklace to complete the look. (Bonus: if you want to keep those crop tops around too, just wear with high-waisted jeans to cover up!)
Keep Your Summer Whites
Whoever said “no white after Labor Day” was sadly mistaken. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t buy white jeans/dresses/tops/everything only to have it taken away as soon as September rolls around! Just accent white pieces with brighter colors and dark neutrals like black or navy to take your outfit from the Hamptons to the hallway.
