Four Apps Every Student Should Have

Neither technology nor college are the same they were 10 years ago. Now, if you have a smartphone, it’s likely there’s an app for anything and everything. The majority of people have the usual: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, SnapChat, Kik, etc. As a social media junkie, those are all fine by me, but as a college student, I have to admit that those aren’t the most academically productive apps our gadgets could have. Here’s a list of applications that, as a student, you should consider having:

1. iStudiez Pro – Sadly, this app only comes for Apple products. This app allows you to create your schedule (typing all your classes in, assigning them colors and all that magic), set alarms when assignments are due and also keep track of your grades. It even allows you to monitor  your grades and gradually calculates your GPA. 

2. Notability – You might think of this as an application similar to a notebook. Although it simulates everything you do on a notebook, the most interesting thing about it is the fact you can record voice activity. Yes, while writing down your notes (with a stylus or the keyboard) you can also be recording your class. It comes in handy if you’re in a class where the professor talks too fast for you to copy everything you want to down in your notes. You can also view and write on PDF books, which allows you to take notes on a particular chapter or PowerPoint slide.

3. Genius Scan– Probably one the most useful apps out there. Whenever you need to convert a document to PDF or JPEG, you just scan it and the app does it for you. Just take pictures of a document you need, send it via email and convert them to PDF format and voila. This app is also able to convert documents into photos to share with friends. Another fun thing about this app is “WiFi Sharing”, which gives you the option on your device to visit the webpage they provide you so you can access your Genius Scan documents from a desktop. 

4. Adobe Reader– This app because it lets me have all my PDF documents on the go. I can edit them on my desktop and upload it to the Cloud and have them on any device. It’s good for books, presentations or other documents you may need on your phone. Also in some documents you can highlight, make anotations and read them with Nightlight. Highly recomend it!
