One of the worst parts about going off to college is not having your mom there to do your laundry. Planning your day around doing a few loads of laundry gets annoying, inconvenient and bothersome. But, two intelligent UT seniors thought of a wonderful solution to this problem: Cool College Cleaners! Cool College Cleaners began last spring but this is the first semester that it is in service.
One may ask how exactly does this laundry service work? It’s very simple! All you have to do is call or text Cool College Cleaners and they will come directly to your lobby to pick up your dirty clothes. They will even send you a text message when your laundry is done and then drop it back off in your lobby. They are flexible when it comes to timing and will coordinate the perfect time to fit your schedule.
Accounting major, Andrew Visnick and Government World Affairs major, Joe Monteforte started this laundry service by themselves and have been getting incredible positive feedback.
“We worked on the business a lot last spring, meeting with the school, writing a business plan, testing the service and all of that. This is our first semester of operation and our users love the service!” says Visnick.
What if you live off campus? Not a problem! Cool College Cleaners offer services at select off-campus locations. NOHO Flats and Vintage Lofts are two popular apartment complexes that they service.
Why should you utilize this laundry service? Visnick said, “Compared to the laundry machines at school, it’s far easier and more convenient. You don’t have to worry about spending hours at the laundry room or people throwing your clothes out of the machines. Simply call us, we pick it up, and bring it back looking great.”
Cool College Cleaners will separate whites and colors, wash everything on cold, and ensure that your clothes come back looking great. They also can dry hang any pieces and offer drop off and pick up dry cleaning.
Bags can hold around 13-18 pounds of clothing and are equal to about 7-10 days of laundry. A sample of what these bags can hold is as followed:
- 2-3 long pants, jeans or khakis
- 2 pairs of shorts
- 5 t-shirts
- 1 button down shirt
- 2 long sleeves
- 2 towels
- 7 pairs of socks
- 7 pairs of underwear
