Sweater weather is finally here! While some of us hold on to that last bit of summer by wearing shorts and tank tops, refusing that we’re cold, the day eventually comes when we have to give in to the chilly weather. There’s no need to be down about it! Maine offers plenty of fun fall activities that you might not have thought about.

1.       Treworgy Family Orchards

This is a “must do” for the fall. Located in Levant Maine, the orchard includes apple picking, pumpkin picking, a corn maze, a petting zoo and much more! Definitely worth the drive.

2.       Orono Bog Walk

There is no better way to experience Maine’s iconic fall colors than at the bog walk. It offers a variety of different trails and there are places to stop along the way to read about what you’re looking at.

3.       Kayak down the Stillwater River

The Stillwater River is a peaceful section of water that runs right through Orono and Old Town. It’s perfect for everyone, even those who haven’t kayaked or canoed before. The nature you’ll see along the way is amazing! Don’t have a kayak or canoe? The Maine Bound program at UMaine makes it easy by providing rentals.

4.       The Bike Path

The bike path that runs through campus and into Old Town is a great way to spend the day with a group of friends. Plus you get your exercise for the day!

5.       Football Games

Put on your best UMaine sweatshirt and get ready to cheer! Watching your favorite football team kick butt in the crazy student section is the perfect way to spend your Saturday evening.
