Summer’s winding down quickly and in the blink of an eye it’ll be a new school year all over again! For those of us who will be seniors, it’s our last chance to make lasting college memories, so let’s not take that for granted. No one would argue against making the most of their final year, so here’s some ideas on how to do it!

Join a club/organization/Greek life

With over 300 different organizations at UCSD, there is no excuse not to join one and meet new people and get involved! From social, ethnic, to academic, there are plenty of options that can be beneficial to your experience here. Also, if you’re looking to boost your resume, joining an organization! Landing a leadership position can really make an impression on future employers or graduate schools!

Plan trips with your friends or roommates

Who doesn’t like having something to look forward to when you’re enduring the dread of midterms? If you want to go out with a bang, why not spend spring break on a cruise with your besties or head over to Vegas for a long weekend? Promoters and travel agencies offer discounts to groups, so take that as an incentive to get out of town and forget about school for a bit. However, if this is a little out of your budget, San Diego has plenty to offer for fun. Make a visit to Mission Beach for a bonfire or go hike Devil’s Punchbowl and grab some Board n’ Brew sandwiches afterwards!

Join a sports intermural team

UCSD Recreation boasts a great variety of intramural sports, all of which can be co-ed and are scheduled at your convenience. You don’t have to be good at the particular sport, it’s just to have some fun and get a boost of exercise. Rally your roommates or friends together and start a team. Who knows? Maybe you’ll make it to the Intramural Championship!

Explore the campus all over again

Yes we know you think you know UCSD like the back of your hand now, but have you seen the Big Red Chair or been to the Challenge Course yet? Our campus has many hidden secrets that most of us just don’t bother to go discover. Take an afternoon to go explore and see what it really has to offer – you might be surprised!

Get out of your comfort zone

It’s time to mix things up! Make an effort to talk to unfamiliar people in your classes or strike up a conversation with someone in line at Sunshine Market in Price Center. Who knows who you’ll meet or where that initial conversation may take you! Also, make it a goal to cross something off of your college bucket list you made ages ago. Take a stroll to Black’s Beach for a skinny dip or see if you can finish a whole order of Carne Asada fries at Vallarta’s on your own!
