4 Steps to the A-list in the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

You’ve just returned home to your mansion in Calabasas after an exhausting all day photo shoot with Metropolitan Magazine when your manager Simon calls with another gig. All you wanted to do was go on your date with that hottie you met at Panino the other night, but once again you are rushing off across Los Angeles for another glamorous photo shoot. Such is the life of an A-list celebrity in this summer’s hottest game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.

From humble beginnings at the So Chic Boutique to partying it up in Vegas and New York, the Kim Kardashian game gives you a taste of the socialite’s Hollywood lifestyle. It isn’t easy making it to the top though as the number one ranking A-lister Kayla can tell you. With 93.4 million fans and growing, Kayla has seen her fare share of Willow Pape meltdowns and fashion emergencies. “I started the game because it was all over my dash,” said Kayla, “Every time I got on Tumblr, everyone talked about it. I saw so many screenshots, so many text posts, everything! So after a week, I decided to check it out. I never expected to get as far as I did.”

So how can you get to the top of the A-list like Kayla? This A-lister and I have put together a few tips to help you on your road to fame.

1. Work Hard at Your Job

We all know how demanding being a Kardashian is. Photo shoots in the morning and red carpets at night; they were are so deserving of that Thailand vacation!

Although your character may want to take a break too, the fastest way to the A-list is by completing photo shoots, working gigs, and part-timing at Kardashian stores. Try your best to get five stars at every gig, it will get you more money and fame. This is easier to do when your energy is full. Networking in Hollywood is crucial too. Inviting friends to a gig will earn you more rewards. Listening to your managers for opportunities throughout the game will help to increase your level as well. According to Kayla, “Simon and Maria are so helpful. I mean, they go so far to get me really far in my career, so it’s nice. Also Kim. Kim’s great, her and her hand hugs.” It is possible to get free money and stars in the game by viewing promotional videos and completing offers in the app, but that’s not nearly as exciting as your Muse Magazine shoot.

2. Couple Up

Monogamy isn’t dead in Hollywood after all. Early on in the game the couple feature wasn’t available, but now characters can declare it Facebook official (not literally) and earn points to make it higher on the Top Couples list. “I love the top couples! Before it was added, my girlfriend called me all the time. The options were either charm her by using my stars, or dump her. Whenever she called, I would close my app completely and re-open it, then go to the closest place to go on a date. I’d invite her, then just kind of leave her there since I was always in the middle of an event whenever she called” says Kayla, “But now, I don’t have to go on a date every day. I don’t have to charm my girlfriend whenever I don’t talk to her for a few days and dating gets me higher up on the Top Couples list.”

But don’t worry! If you want to keep playing the field there are plenty of ways dating around can help your rank as well. It’s important to know the right people in the game, and flirting with people Kim introduces you to like pop stars, models, and fashion photographers can get you business gigs as well as a date. When on a date make sure to perform the tasks that will give you the most Bonus Hearts, like ordering a fancy meal or a vintage wine. Money can buy you love too in the game. When you give a gift you earn five relationship points. Fellow A-lister Emily credits dating to her success in the game as well. “To get on top, I stepped on my multitudes of boyfriends for sure. Love em’ and leave em’” says the Hollywood starlet.

3. Avoid Willow Pape

Hollywood is known for its celebrity scandals and feuds, and the Kim Kardashian game is no exception. Perhaps one of the most famous feuds in Hollywood is between former bffs Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. Some might even say the snarky and self-obessed character of Willow Pape is based off of the famous blonde heiress. However when given the option to bad-mouth your fellow starlet, don’t. In true Hollywood fashion, the media will turn it all around on you. Willow often voices her opinion over Twitter which can cause you to lose a ton of fans as well. “I don’t like being rude in this game, since everything you say to Willow she will use against you” says Kayla, “You should also avoid that friend who comes to visit. He’s rude, he insults your outfit, he insults your house, and tries to make you miss a project. I ditched him as soon as I could.”

4. Play Every Day

One of the quickest ways to get to the A-list is also the most simple: remember to play every day! If you don’t keep yourself in the spotlight you can lose millions of fans, even if you just miss a day or two. Even if you can’t find a NBA player to get hitched too for a few days, there are plenty of ways to stay relevant in the game. Changing your outfit, hanging out with fellow celebs, or buying a new home can all get you written about in the tabloids. The occasional Twitter mention from Kim doesn’t hurt either.
