Campus Celebrity : Stacey Sylvetsky

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Union chapter.

HC: What is your major?

SS: Psychology, minor in biology

HC: What organizations or sports are you a part of on campus?

SS: I’m on the women’s soccer team, am a proud member of Delta Delta Delta, and am co-president of Healthy Habits.

HC: You started a club this summer, can you tell us a little bit about it?

SS: The club is called Healthy Habits and our goal is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle on campus! We hold meetings as a club, but most of the events we hold are open to the whole campus, so we encourage everybody to come to events. We focus on nutrition, exercise, substance abuse, and stress management.  We have a wide range of events and activities. For example, this week we have had a pledge for students to sign in Reamer that essentially says you will be more responsible and conscious about substances you are putting into your body. Next week, we are holding a Healthy Habits interval workout.

HC: What was the biggest obstacle to achieving this goal?

SS: I would say the biggest challenge was finding out about all of the steps you need to go through to get a new club approved. This was all new to me, as well as the other co-president, Kara Mashuta. Once we got going, however, it was pretty easy to get it accepted as an official club.

HC: That’s awesome! Last question. Where do you see yourself in five years?

SS: Not exactly sure but I am thinking about a career in health promotion, such as working for a corporate wellness organization or health insurance company.

I am a sophomore at Union College.
