Last Saturday afternoon my friend I ventured deep into South Boston. I was excited to explore new territory and check out the Lawn on D, a cool outdoor space near Dorchester that I had read so much about. The venue is nestled in an industrial neighborhood and features a covered tent with picnic tables, a stage, and a bar. The rest of the lawn has a large stage, games like ladder golf, and for a limited time, suspended swings that change color when they move.

Unfortunately, due to poor planning on my end, the journey was less than enjoyable. A trek to get there, after switching to the Red Line you have to walk about a mile, the Lawn is definitely not meant to be enjoyed on a rainy day. However, there are still a few dry days left this month, and for that reason I have to highly recommend checking out the Lawn on D.

A perfect place to go on a sunny afternoon, the chill neighborhood vibe is the perfect way to waste away the day. The food trucks and other vendors make it easy to spend a few hours there. So, if you’re looking to play some ladder golf or a cool photo-op on light up swings, the Lawn on D is definitely worth the journey. Grab a bunch of friends and check it out. It’s all about the adventure anyway.

The Lawn on D is located at 420 D Street, Boston. It’s open 7 days a week and accessible by the Broadway stop on the Red Line.
