1. Find the gluten-free hiding spaces
UT offers a surprising amount of GF foods that most people either don’t know about or don’t know that they’re GF. The Balanced Way station in the caf is always completely GF. In between the Balanced Way and Pizza Amore stations, there is a cabinet full of GF breads, bagels, cereals, and pasta. If requested, a sandwhich can be made at The Deli with GF bread. They’ll even use a seperate cutting board and knife to keep from cross contamination. More information about dining options can be found here.
2. Do your research
If information about GF options can’t be found online, don’t be afraid to ask the workers in either the caf or stand-alone restaurants. It might feel like being “that kid” who has to know everything about their food before they eat it, but hey you only have to ask one time and you might discover there are more options than you think.
3. Familiarize yourself with the grocery store
I know it can be a drag (and an expensive one) but having groceries in your room is a must. Whether it’s a couple of power bars in your room or a full pantry, knowing that you have something that is easy and definitely tummy-friendly is important .
