This year hasn’t been the most successful year when it comes to relationships being long lasting. Cupid definitely hasn’t been working his magic these days. This year, specifically in the last few months, Hollywood is experiencing more breakups then we are used to. Even though it is almost expected that celebrity marriages and relationships will fail; there have also been many successful partnerships. However, if we examine further it seems that more sources are reporting breakups, rather than makeups. Just recently, we have been saddened to hear the news of the demise of the relationships between:
1. Robin Thicke and Paula Patton (married nine years, one son together, Julian)
2. Britney Spears and David Lucado (together more than a year)
3. Sara Hyland and Matt Prokop (together more than five years)
4. Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose ( married for one year, one son together, Sebastian)
5. Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo (together for three and a half years)
6. Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie (married three years, one son together, Luca)
7. Kelly Osbourne and Matt Mosshart (together two years, engaged for one year)
So what seems to be the common trends for these breakups? Based on the stories and reports that have come out, it seems that these men of Hollywood are battling demons of their own, and it seems to be affecting their relationships.
Robin Thicke recently came out and said that he was high on Vicodin and drunk for most of 2013, and that’s what caused his then wife, Paula Patton, to leave him. Since then, he has professed his love for her in many concerts, and his most recent album was named “Paula”, but failed in sales.
Britney Spears announced in one of her Las Vegas shows that her boyfriend was unfaithful to her, and she is now single.
Most recently, Amber Rose stated on Twitter, that it wasn’t her that cheated, but it was her now ex-husband. Recent reports claim that Rose walked in on her husband with two twin sisters, Jas and Ness Rose.
In the case of Sara Hyland and Matt Prokop, tensions had been rising, and after she ended the relationship, Hyland then had to obtain a temporary restraining order against Prokop. The documents stated that in an argument in May, Prokop had Hyland pinned up against a car and began to choke her. Prokop also has sent countless of disturbing text messages to Hyland.
Hollywood breakups almost never seem to end amicably, as these examples mentioned above would support, but at least with the cases of Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie, Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo, and Kelly Osbourne and Matt Mosshart they still love, respect and support one another. Let’s hope that Cupid starts striking more celebrities with his arrows in the near future!
