Favorite Fall Activities

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

As the leaves start to turn and Starbucks is turning out hundreds of Pumpkin Spice Lattes each day, we know that fall is truly upon us. The weather is finally cold enough for you to wear your cute new riding boots, but still warm enough to leave the parka at home-for few weeks, at least! Here are my go to activities to take advantage of the beautiful in-between weather:

1) Apple Picking

Not only an excuse to take an artsy insta in a beautiful setting, picking apples with a group of your best girl friends is a fall activity that is worth the 20-minute trip. Door Creek Orchard is just a short car ride away from campus, and it is definitely worth having delicious fresh apples for your dorm!

2) Fall Baking

Now that you have those fresh apples, you might as well put them to good use! We have a floor kitchen in my dorm, and I fully plan on taking advantage of the oven to bake some fall treats. Between Halloween themed sugar cookies and delicious baked apples, fall baking is something both you and your floor mates can enjoy.

3) Disney Movie Marathon

One of the main reasons fall is my favorite season is the fact that Halloweentown runs on the daily on Disney Channel. Grab a group of your friends, or make your boyfriend sit through the endless marathon of Disney throwback movies as you channel your inner kid.

4) Pumpkin Decorating

Carving is no longer the only option when it comes to dressing up your pumpkins. While getting down and dirty with your pumpkin and its messy insides is a timeless tradition, decorating your pumpkins with googly eyes and rhinestones can lead to endless possibilities.

5) Haunted House

Haunted Houses are the perfect excuse to go with a group of your guy friends and make them protect you from those creepy characters around the corner! With Halloween in the air, a cool, fall night is the perfect time to get pushed past your comfort zone and travel to an eerie house with good friends. Whether you are a scare-fanatic or simply got talked into going by your friends, a trip to a haunted house is a must this fall.

I hope these fun activities inspire you to get in the spirit of fall! It really is the best season, and you all should take advantage of this brief, pleasant weather before the tundra hits Madison.
