HC: What made you want to attend SCAD?
GH: I wanted to attend SCAD because of their creative career focus. The work that’s done here is amazing and I’m able to cross over departments through collaboration while expanding my work as an artist. SCAD students have such a passion for their work and it’s contagious. When I sat in for a class during my senior year of high school I knew that I would be happy here.
HC: How are you involved in college life?
GH: I’m the business manager of Third Act, which is a student run theater company at SCAD. Everything we do is student run: producing, directing, casting, acting, designing costumes, designing lights, designing the set, designing sound—everything it takes for a company to put on a show.
I’m also a member of the first ever all girl improv troupe at SCAD called 6 Chix. We plan to compete in the winter for the college improv tournament. Feel free to follow us at 6.chix on Instagram and Facebook. I’ve never been more excited to work with a group of people like I am with the girls.
HC: What was your summer like?
GH: I’m a casting intern under Andra Reeve-Rabb who is the casting director for SCAD’s Casting Office. We are the only school in the states to have our own in-house casting office. We’re really lucky to work under Andra. Before she came to SCAD she was the head of casting for CBS Primetime Casting in New York. Because of her work, she is able to properly prepare us for the industry. I was fortunate enough to work as an intern for CBS this summer, and it was an invaluable experience. The people I worked for cared about me, and were always willing to share their experiences.
HC: What are your career goals?
GH: My career goals are to work in the entertainment arts as either a casting director or a professional actor. I hope to continue telling stories through art.
HC: If you could give any piece of advice what would it be?
GH: My piece of advice: compliment yourself every day.
