From Catwalk to Sidewalk

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Syracuse chapter.

Fashion Weeks world-wide have come to an end, but the trends on those runways are here to stay. For all the fashionistas out there, Fashion Week is like Christmas. But when you’re not the tall, legs-for-days model on the runway, how are you even supposed to wear all those amazing new trends?

Since no one will  be wearing those Spring/Summer styles from Fashion Week anytime soon, I decided to do a little throwback to the Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week. Here are a few runway to campus looks you can rock  whenever you want.  Act like this campus is your very own runway, while still making it alive to class (no stilettos included) and without breaking the bank!

1. Monochromatic Gray

TopShop Unique Fall/Winter 2014

Monochrome is a big trend in general this season, but the most popular color is definitely gray. This overall look is super classy and has a certain warmth to it, especially when  sweaters are involved.

2. Oxford Shoes

This is also the perfect look to pair with another huge trend, oxford shoes! It helps break up the monochrome without missing out on the whole idea.

3. Statement Clutches

What better way to top off a cute outfit than with a sassy clutch! These clutches with clever quotes were spotted everywhere during Fashion Week.

4. Aztec Patterned Sweaters

Emilio Pucci, Tommy Hilfiger, Rag & Bone, and Burberry Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Fashion Week

Sometimes, in the fashion world, designers like throwing it back to the pre-civilized time. . Aztec, Norse Code inspired prints dominated the runway this year.  There’s nothing better than a printed sweater reminiscent of cabins and fireplaces to keep you warm.

5. Mid-Western Hats

Let’s go  back to when the Mid-West was all the rage!  Designers obviously think the Wild West is still alive.

6. Animal Patterns

Giles, Valentino, Markus Lupfer, Alberta Ferretti and Marchesa Voyage Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Fashion Week

Animal inspired clothing has always been present in the fashion world from fur, to cheetah print, to leather, but the trend for this season is animal patterns! If you have a cat obsession, love birds, or even giraffes, this one is for you.

7. Leather

On that note, a great thing to pair with animal patterns is leather. Leather is a timeless trend, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Of course, if you’re real-leather conscious,  our faux friend  is always there to help us fake a model-worthy, animal-friendly look.

8. Knit Pants

Céline, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, and Haider Ackermann, Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Fashion Week

Move over leggings!  Knit pants are the new thing. They feel like sweatpants, but look chic. Who doesn’t want to wear pajamas and still look fashionable?

9. T-shirt dresses

Some trends transition through all the seasons.  Like the effortless t-shirt dress. It was huge on summer runways, but also earned it’s spot in the cooler seasons. It is simple to throw on, feels super comfortable, and looks uber cute.

10. Denim Jackets

Ashish, Marques Almeida, Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Fashion Week

For the chillier seasons, you might want to try-out  another oldie, but goodie, the jean jacket. It adds that little something extra to the simple t-shirt dress, while still keeping you warm.
