Her Campus (HC): What is your favorite part of Halloween?
Catherine Lavoy-Ouzts (CLO): I love dressing up and seeing other people dressed up in crazy costumes! It’s the one time of year that people can really express themselves in either a serious or a silly way.
(HC): What are you dressing up as this year?
(CLO): I’m going as an anaconda, completely inspired by the Nicki Minaj song. No judgment! I take Halloween very seriously.
(HC): What is it like working in a Halloween store during the season?
(CLO): I love it! The people I work with are so fun and laid back, and helping customers pick out their costumes is really exciting to me.
(HC): What is the spookiest prank you have ever played on someone during Halloween?
(CLO): I once took my boyfriend to a haunted house. He was absolutely terrified! When he wasn’t looking, I hid behind a wall, popped out, and scared him. The look on his face was priceless!
(HC): What is your favorite Halloween candy?
(CLO): Definitely the bite-sized Milky Ways and Snickers bars. I will literally trick-or-treat all night for those.
(HC): What is your favorite Halloween tradition?
(CLO): My mom and I have a tradition of going to a pumpkin patch, picking out the perfect pumpkin, and then carving it together. It’s really special to me, and something I look forward to every year.
(HC): What is your favorite thing to do at FSU during Halloween?
(CLO): Trick-or-Treat on Greek Street is a really rewarding event hosted by Order of Omega each year. Most of Greek life participates and hands out candy to young kids. Some people even dress up and really impress the kids!
(HC): Any fun ideas for Her Campus readers to take part in on Halloween?
(CLO): The local haunted houses can be really fun! The Adult Swim house was a blast last year, and they are opening a new one next to Urban Outfitters soon that everyone should definitely check out!
