HC: Tell me a little about who you are and what you’re studying.

CI: My name is Crosby Ignasher. I’m a junior at SCAD and I am studying Motion Media Design.

HC: What is about that field that you’re interested in?

CI: When I came to SCAD I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to major in, and Motion media was a kind of conglomerate of all the things I was interested in between film, illustration, graphic design, photography, and a couple other things I was interested in. And the people in the department were really friendly and helpful and so I stuck with it.

HC: You’re Yik Yak famous, a little bit. Living in the freshman area, a lot of students have noticed your existence. What’s it like to be famous on an anonymous social media platform?

CI: It’s kinda funny because sometimes you’ll walk up to people, and you won’t know tem but they’ll be in the group of people you’re talking to and they’ll be like “hey, I know who you are, you’re on Yik Yak”. “Yeah. Yeah that was me…”, and that’s about the extent of it. It’s not that different…just more people recognize you than normal.

HC: You do a couple “eccentric” things that are pretty fun. I don’t know if you’re doing it this year, but Christmas Sweater Tuesdays, and every October you dye your hair pink. What were some reasons for wanting to do those things?

CI: Christmas Sweater Tuesdays started my freshman year…it was a cold Tuesday morning in October and I said, “you know what today’s a good day for? Christmas Sweaters” so I did that, and I go what if I made this a thing and did it every Tuesday. And I just kept on doing it until the end of Winter quarter. So I did it last year, and I’m trying to do it this year. My pink hair, I’ve also done since freshman year of college, where I dyed it for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and also I just really enjoy the color pink, and I just leave it for the month.

HC: You’ve been really involved within SCAD since the inception of Crosby at SCAD, so what are some of the benefits of being involved in so many organizations?

CI: I’ve been involved in four student clubs or organization actively. And then I’ll randomly attend other ones, if I find out about them or not. I’ve been actively involved 2 years in District as their head photo editor. I work for ResLife currently; I have attended AIGA, and actively attend MOME Love. I’ve learned a lot outside my major, especially with AIGA (the graphic design club). It’s interesting to see their perspective on something I already do…MOME Love is always nice for keeping me up to date on industry stuff, job postings, and just seeing other people in my department…With District I got to meet a lot of cool people when I was out on assignment, all over the city and throughout SCAD. There’s a lot of people within SCAD Administration that now me by first name. And we got a lot of passes to other things. So I got a free media pass to the Film Fest, which is basically like a Gold Pass with the exception of a few things, two free tickers to the Fashion Show, getting to go to Atlanta TV Fest. It’s great; cause you really get to know how much SCAD has to offer ‘cause I’m going to three lectures a week, or something like that. It taught me how to organize and manage a staff, and keep a schedule, and kept me actively doing photography. And then ResLife is great, I’m not going to as many lectures but I’m getting to go out and see more students and familiar faces from all different departments. Everyone is really energetic.

HC: You really interested in travel, so If you could get a job working anywhere after graduation where would that be?

CI: I would love to work in Italy. There’s a very large industry of many things happening there. I don’t know how strong the motion graphics industry is, but there are a lot of other cool things going on there. It’s just a pretty cool country. If I were to go abroad that’s where I’d go. If I were to stay domestic, I’d probably go to NYC. It’s pretty much just one of the large houses of places to do anything. There’s a lot of networking to go on there, there’s a lot of people already there. It’s a very eccentric city.
