Expectation: It works out seamlessly and everyone applauds your synchronization.

Reality: You’re all alone for the majority of the night and left to improvise as an individual.

2. Planning a couple’s costume.

Expectation:

Reality: You’re single.

3. Throwing together a last minute costume.

Expectation:

4. The Halloween party you’ve been looking forward to all week.

Expectation:

Reality: It’s awkward, you’re hungry, and can’t find your friends.

5. The clever, hella-unique costume you’ve been planning all semester.

Expectation: You don’t have a care in the world because you know you look fabulous.

Reality: Nobody gets it.
