It’s noon on a Saturday and you’re just now waking up. Crazy night huh? You sit and reminisce of the night before and how awesome you were. Then, all of a sudden, the headache of the century hits you right in the forehead. Next comes the nausea. And then it hits you: you’re hungover. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. No matter how awesome we are the night before, we always regret it in the morning. Here are some hangover cures that may, or may not help you come Saturday morning.

1.Charcoal Pills

There’s a lot of speculation around this one. The debate is basically between whether you take it the night before or the morning of. If taken the night before it is believed that these pills will ward off a hangover. However, they also make it a lot more difficult to reach the desired level of intoxication. Now at first this decision seems pretty obvious, but are we willing to sacrifice out Friday night for a sound Saturday morning? I doubt it. 6/10, this one is definitely worth trying a couple of times.

2.Hair of the Dog

How many times have we woke up and said, “I’m hungover, time to start drinking again!” and thought it was a good idea? The reality is this one just delays the inevitable. It may ward off the headache and nausea temporarily, but when you wakeup Sunday morning you’ll feel even worse than you did Saturday morning. 2/10, I definitely don’t recommend it.

3.Greasy, Fattening Food

This is definitely a popular one. Not going to lie, I’ve bought into this one quite a few times and it seems like it works pretty well. The logic is that when you consume a lot of high carb, greasy food it will absorb what’s left of the alcohol in your system. Really what this does is brings your blood sugar back up and settles your stomach that hasn’t had anything in it but cheap beer and liquor. 8/10, I definitely recommend this one.

4.Chugging Water as Soon as You Get Up

I could see where people would think this would work. However, your body doesn’t absorb water quite that quickly. A more effective method would be drinking your water while also drinking your alcohol. 2/10 for chugging the morning after, 9/10 for alternating water with alcohol.

5.Waiting It Out

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately this is the only full proof method. Lie in bed and sleep it off. You’ll be fine by Saturday night and lets be honest, even if you’re not you’ll probably still do it again. 10/10, you have to do it this way guys. You’ll thank me later I promise.

I’m sure there’s quite a few unique ways to ward off the dreaded hangover. I know I’ve definitely tried some out there ideas in hopes of ending the personal hell that is a hangover. In the grand scheme of things all you can really do is sleep it off and mentally prepare yourself for another great night.
