There are very few people in the world that can make any situation worthwhile. One of those people is Illinois State’s very own Crystal Rodrigues, whom I am lucky enough to have as my Resident Assistant. Crystal is always radiating happiness, greeting everyone she sees with her signature smile. Spending time with this Campus Cutie always ends with pure joy; by the end of our meeting we were dancing, throwing bundles of the leaves in the air, and making the best out of an average Tuesday afternoon. HerCampus ISU: Where is your favorite travel destination and why?
Crystal Rodrigues: My favorite place that I have traveled to is my hometown of Manglore, India. It is extremely rural, very beautiful, and wherever you go there are all types of wildlife. It is so nice spending time with my family and experiencing the simple things, like the guava tree in my grandma’s backyard.
HC ISU: What is your perfect first date?
CR: I would love to go stargazing! When I look up into the sky I feel so small. I would love to use that to talk about the world, our goals, and our dreams. It would nice to just talk with them while enjoying the stars.
HC ISU: What is your favorite quote and why?
CR: My favorite quote is, “Go out into the world and do well, but more importantly go out into the world and do good” spoken by Minor Myers Junior. I think this is a really good quote because it places emphasis on what is really important in life. Life isn’t just about grades or money, it is about making an impact and being the best version of you.
HC ISU: What is your favorite thing about being a R.A.?
CR: My residents! They are the sweetest, kindest, and most caring people. Whenever I am around them I am excited about life! These students make me want to become a better R.A. and overall person.
HC ISU: Do you have any favorite memories from a girl’s night out?
CR: It would probably be the night where my friends and I were walking around Uptown Normal after getting Emack’s!
HC ISU: What is your favorite thing about ISU?
CR: The professors. These professors seem like they genuinely care about their students and are passionate as well as knowledgeable about what they teach. This type of teaching makes learning more interesting! The quad is also beautiful.
HC ISU: What is the best advice you have ever received?
CR: My parents always tell me to work hard, but to also keep your own happiness in mind. I think it is really important to find that balance in your life.
HC ISU: What do you think is the best advice you have ever given?
CR: The best advice that I give is to take every opportunity that you get. There are so many opportunities here, you just have to go out and find them!
