So often you see articles related to the party girl, fun time reference of being a single lady, while I can’t deny single life can be delicious…taken life can be just as satisfying.  College is ultimately stressful and friends are a key component to making it through, but what about a significant other? Really though, why not a significant other? The benefit of love goes beyond physical attraction, and is one of the strongest bonds you can have with somebody. I am not saying love isn’t a risk, but lets be honest, without risk are you really living?

Support systemsYes, I agree friends serve as an ongoing support system, but what happens when they commit to a relationship, or they don’t have time to contribute equally to the relationship? Don’t lose your friendships in a relationship, but don’t shy from the promise of a relationship because of a friendship. Keep in mind there are exceptions for everything. Part of a relationship and friendship is getting along with people that mean something to one another. Significant others serve as great support systems, because they are truly there for you through everything, physically and emotionally.

MotivationSignificant others help in reminding you of your worth. It is very hard to lose yourself within the college experience, but not so much when you have someone pulling you back into reality. When you find someone who cares about you, they constantly compliment you. There comes a point where they do it so much, so unknowingly and willingly, your spirit can’t help but improve.  There’s just something too damn sweet about someone telling you that you look beautiful every day.

EverydayLet us also consider the everyday chores and/or activities one would normally perform that are now easier and or already done. Significant others serve as wonderful personal chefs, chauffeurs, designated bug killers, additional hands when cleaning, etc. Not to mention the ridiculous amounts of sex. Also, let us take into consideration the real joke here, sure “if they can’t have us at our worst, they don’t deserve us at our best” but holy hello my worst is consistent, and straight up BAD. You are lucky to see me at my best. But that’s the thing, they don’t care. They truly do not care.

Again, while being single is filled with opportunity, understand that there is the same opportunity while in a relationship, it just plays out different. It’s never too early nor too late to find love, and it seems to hit us best when we’re not looking.
