What To Do on a Mental Health Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

I’ve already told you what to do when you’re actually home sick, but now we need to cover something more important: the mental health day. The mental health day occurs when your life just becomes a little too hectic and you need a small break. I’m certainly not encouraging you to skip all of your classes and commitments, but I am telling you that self-care is very important, and sometimes you need a little time for you. Here’s a list of things you should do on your next mental health day.

1.     Sleep in

2.     Bake something delicious

3.     Catch up on your favorite TV show

4.     Clean your room (You know you need to)

5.     Paint your nails

6.     Take a long shower

7.     Call your parents

8.     Do things you wouldn’t normally be able to do if your roommates were home

9.     Catch up on some homework (Again, you know you need to)

10.    Read Her Campus BC

11.    Read a good book

12.    Take a nap

13.    Order delivery for lunch

14.    Spend hours on social media with no regrets

15.    Whatever you want, because this is, after all, your mental health day

Hopefully these suggestions give you some things to do the next time you fake sick. There’s nothing wrong with giving yourself a break every now and then, but just make sure you use these days responsibly!

I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
