Tori Simokov: VS PINK Rep

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

It’s no secret that most girls are addicted to everything pink, Victoria’s Secret PINK that is. Imagine being a representative for such a well-known brand. That’s exactly what Tori Simokov has been doing for the past two years as one of Ohio University’s PINK reps.

Tori is a senior communication studies major who has always loved the PINK brand. “It’s a brand that people love and appreciate,” she says. In 2012, PINK did a contest looking for the next university to have a campus rep program. While entering the contest and voting for OU, Tori also chose to apply to be a campus rep not knowing what it entailed.

To her surprise she interviewed and was selected to be one of the new OU PINK reps alongside Ali Pillow. While Tori had no event planning experience, she has plenty of networking experience. In addition to working on campus, Tori was also in a sorority, worked at the sales center, and participated in other organizations and clubs. “I think that my network was the biggest factor versus having experience,” she says.

As a rep, Tori’s main responsibility is to “plan, budget and execute events.” While the OU reps hold four or five events per semester, the biggest event is the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Tori says the fashion show viewing party is by far her favorite event. “There’s a lot of planning that goes into it but it’s definitely the most rewarding because headquarters sends down all of this free stuff.” Free stuff that they give away if you attend the viewing party.

Reps also have the responsibility of managing the PINK brand through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and they even have a new website. Be sure to check it out and stay in the loop about upcoming events and opportunities for freebies.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show viewing party will be at 9 pm Tuesday, Decemeber 9 at The Pigskin. Be sure to follow @VSPINKOhioU on Twitter for more information about their events.
