Majors as Thanksgiving Food

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

Hey ladies! Thanksgiving is quickly approaching (can’t believe it’s this week!). In spirit of everybody’s favorite turkey-eating holiday, here’s a fun little article that relates everyday college majors to your favorite traditional Thanksgiving dishes!

1. Accounting & Business Majors

Accounting majors and business majors are very practical, straightforward, and this is what makes them the green bean casserole at our Thanksgiving table. They’re an extremely traditional dish and a very safe go-to.

2. Nursing Majors

Nursing majors sit as the role of mashed potatoes at the dinner table. This is because nurses heal and help society “stick together”. Nurses heal a wounded body while mashed potatoes, being a very popular soul food, help heal the heart.

3. Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Majors

Those majoring in the popular sciences can also be referred to as the stuffing on Thanksgiving Day. These areas of study are complicated and require a lot of different elements – much like this common dish.

4. Math & Computer Science Majors

It seems as though with the age of technology rapidly evolving, the mathematics and computer science department are always up to speed with the rest of the world. That’s why they serve as the more modern and untraditional dish, such as the beef tenderloin pictured above. These majors are always one step ahead of the game.

5. Performing Arts Majors

All you performing arts majors out there, such as dance, acting, and music, are equivalent to the turkey on Thanksgiving. Yep, that’s right; you guys are the superstars and the center of attention amongst all the other dishes.

What are you looking forward to most about Thanksgiving? Whether it be the food, the family time, the time off from school, and so on, the Her Campus Adelphi team wishes all of you collegiates a warm, happy, and safe Thanksgiving holiday this year!

Hey everyone! I'm Juls (yes, short for Julie), and I'm a junior biology major with a double minor in chemistry and mathematics at Adelphi University. I'm also a writer and the head of the editorial team for Her Campus Adelphi. I've been running for 6 years and am a (beginner) Bikram yoga junkie, so I guess you can say I'm also a fitness enthusiast. If I'm not out for a run or in the yoga studio, you can catch me volunteering at my local hospital, laughing with my friends while out for coffee, or tuning in for the latest episode of Dancing With the Stars. Feel free to say hi if you see me around; I'm most likely that girl with a pair of sunglasses on top of her head even if it's cloudy outside.
