10 Best Festive Christmas Jumpers (And Where to Buy Them)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at City London chapter.

Christmas is just around the corner, which means one thing: Christmas jumpers! Yes! It’s time to pull out that old, ugly Christmas jumper that your grandmother knitted you for your eighth birthday and proudly parade it around.

On the other hand, if you don’t fancy grandma’s handy work this year, we have the perfect list for you. We’re talking about the ten best places to buy unique Christmas jumpers this winter. From the good one, the bad and the very, very ugly.

1. The Retro One: Festive Christmas Jumpers.co.ukFirst up on the list is FestiveChristmasJumpers.co.uk. This site has a great range of jumpers for men, women and children. They even have a special ‘Frozen’ section! With jumpers at £15-£20, they are an absolute bargain! My personal favourite is the cute ‘retro penguin’ Christmas jumper at £19.95.

2. The Funny One: Tipsy ElvesIf you feel like going for a more comical Christmas jumper this year, then Tipsy Elves is your website! With a great variety of men and women’s jumpers, they would make a great gift for you or your partner (depending on their humour, of course). Jumpers include grumpy cats, dinosaurs and screaming gingerbread men. All women’s jumpers are £38, and my pick this time was the ‘Birthday Boy Jesus’ jumper. Slightly more expensive, but at least you know you will be unique!

3. The Ugly One: The Sweater StoreLooking for a genuinely ugly, vintage jumper for this Christmas? Then look no further than The Sweater Store. This American site has some truly ugly gems. All jumpers are unisex (as they generally have no shape) and range from $15-$60, $60 for the more coveted vintage Disney and Charlie Brown sweaters. The particular one I’ve picked will hopefully give you a good idea of how truly awful these sweaters are. This Green Ugly Christmas Sweatshirt (27037) is $20.

4. The Geeky One: Forbidden PlanetFor the geeks amongst us, Forbidden Planet has a limited (but fantastic) range of Christmas jumpers. Themes include Doctor Who and Adventure Time, and they come in both men and women’s sizes. But if you aren’t looking for a jumper, it’s your lucky day! They also do amazing t-shirts. Prices range from £15.99 – £34.99.

5. The Gamer One: Truffle Shuffle Truffle Shuffle is definitely one of the best places to look for Christmas jumpers, including… Wait for it… LED light up jumpers! The LED jumpers are slightly more expensive and will set you back around £50, but the average price of other jumpers is £29.99 – £45. There is a great mix of classic cheesy, funny and nerdy vintage jumpers. This Sonic the Hedgehog one was my pick from Truffle Shuffle at £29.99. A must have for gamers of both genders!

6. The Fashionable One: Boo HooBoo Hoo are on point with their trendy and cute Christmas jumpers and accessories this year. What makes this even better is that prices are only from £10-25: BARGAIN! There is also a great mixture of sweaters, cardigans and tunics. The Zoe Santa and Reindeers Christmas Tunic Jumper is absolutely adorable and would look great at the work Christmas party for only £18!

7. The Adorable One: Not On The High StreetNot On The High Street have a range of adorable women’s, men’s and children’s jumpers. You can also personalise jumpers with special features like squeaky noses. Prices start at £20 for normal jumpers but for LED or matching sets (with the front and back of a reindeer… Fantastic!) prices go up to £65. This Perry Penguin jumper is the epitome of cute but it’s a pricey £48. Well collegiettes, sometimes the price of uniqueness is high.

8. The TV Reference One: Red BubbleRed Bubble is the king of personalised items and, when it comes to Christmas, they do not disappoint. There is a fantastic range of television Christmas jumpers including Star Trek, Breaking Bad and Animal Town! Jumper prices are in and around £30 and come in a variety of colours. My personal favourite was the Game of Thrones ‘Christmas is Coming’ jumper at £30.47.

9. The Band OnesChristmas jumpers seem to be the latest trend in band merchandise. There isn’t one specific place to find them; you just have to go to your respective bands website. So far I’ve seen Queens of the Stone Age, Say Anything, One Direction, Metallica and Slayer. All pretty strange but it’s unlikely you will see anyone else in them! Prices vary but this awesome Foo Fighters jumper is $29.99 from their official store.

10. The Bad One: My Ugly Christmas SweaterThere are no words for how bad this jumper is, and I just felt it was worth sharing with you. No matter how bad your Christmas jumper is, it can’t be this bad. EVER. However, if you really wanted to buy it, it would set you back a whopping $150! Wow!
