Campus Celebrity LaShondra Robinson-Spears ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

You may have seen this purple headed beauty walking around campus or dancing for our beloved Blazers during the games. Not only is she a talented Red Hot dancer but she is also our Campus Celebrity of the week! Meet Lashondra Robinson-Spears!

Name: Lashondra (Lucie) Robinson-SpearsHometown: Queens Village, NYMajor: MathematicsZodiac Sign: AquariusHer Campus: Why Valdosta State University?

Lashondra: Because it’s home to the VSU Red Hots and it’s quite close to Florida. I love palm trees!

HC: What made you want to become a Red Hot and how has the experience changed you?

Lashondra: Being a dancer in high school, I knew I wasn’t going to major in dance so I was researching options, like dance organizations, and I came across the Red Hots on YouTube. They were national champions that year and seeing how well those girls were made me want to be a Red Hot myself. The experience has prepared me for the real world. Our coach plays ZERO games and pushes us to be the best on and off the dance floor. I’ve learned lessons that I will cherish forever.

HC: How long have you been dancing and what genres of dancing are you most experienced in?

Lashondra:  I have been dancing for seventeen years and I’m most experienced in Tap and Hip Hop.

HC: What advice would you give someone who aspires to be like you?

Lashondra: The best advice I can give them is to simply GO FOR IT! Do what makes you happy and don’t let anyone get in the way.

HC: With your busy schedule, how do you manage school, the Red Hots, and personal life?

Lashondra: That’s a question I’m still trying to find the answer to myself. I just know there are goals that need to be accomplished so I just do it.

HC: How do you motivate yourself?  What truly makes you happy?

Lashondra: What motivates me is the thought of graduating soon. The support of my family truly makes me happy.

HC: Is there anything else you want to accomplish here at VSU before you graduate?

Lashondra: Yes. I want to join more organizations and be more involved.

HC: In a few words, how would you describe your college experience?

Lashondra: LIFE CHANGING.

HC: Who is your role model?

Lashondra: My role model is Lady GaGa because she is a multi-talented artist who follows her own unique heart.

HC: What legacy do you want to leave behind?

Lashondra: Be more than just a pretty face. Leave a mark and be the best at what you do.

HC: What are your post-graduation plans?

Lashondra: To become an Actuary, and eventually open a performing arts studio.

Hard-working, driven, charismatic and goal-oriented are only a few words that describe Lashrondra. I am grateful to call such a beautiful, spirited person my friend and I know that she only has great things in store for herself. Don’t forget to support the Blazers and the Red Hots who are doing great things for Valdosta State University!
