Gator Glam: Your Favorite Winter Accessories

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

After the few recent cold fronts in Gainesville, it seems as if it may finally be necessary to bring out that winter wardrobe you’ve been storing at home or in a box at the back of your closet. And once you’ve done that, you may realize, like I did, that you only have two jackets and no cute clothes that will keep you warm when you go out at night.

If that’s the case, it may be time to do some shopping! But before you do, check out what some UF collegiettes chose as their favorite winter wardrobe accessory.

“I’ve always been a hat person, so my favorite winter accessory is the floppy wool hat. I think it adds some sophistication to an outfit while also helping keep you warm. You can wear it daytime or nighttime, which is really nice. And in a season where most dress codes are all black everything, it’s a nice way to add some color.” – Elle Sacerdote, a marketing senior

“I would have to say my favorite winter piece is my khaki trench coat. It’s functional yet fashionable and versatile, especially because the bottom has cute lace fringes that make a classic jacket a little more cute and girly. I’m small, so it’s hard to find jackets that fit my body type, but my coat is really well tailored and has a bow in the middle, so it still lets me look good when I’m all layered up!” – Katie Mesa, an art history junior

“Well, my favorite winter accessory is definitely a pair of socks because they are a cute addition to any outfit and they keep me warm. I own tons of different socks and wear them with all different shoes like shorter ones for my Vans and longer patterned ones with my boots. I love all the different designs, colors and sizes.” – Sarah Abbas, an event management senior

“The puffy vest is not only an essential winter item, but it’s a great fashion statement as well. In these frigid winter months, it’s really important to remain warm. The best way to do that is to ensure that your chest is covered in one way or another. What’s a better way to do this than by donning your own down feather-filled comfy vest?” – Ariel Leighton, a finance senior

“What’s better than keeping your ears warm and still being able to look trendy? My knit headbands are easily my favorite winter accessory because not only do they keep my ears nice and cozy when it gets really cold, but they also add a much needed feminine touch to my wardrobe.” – Cassandra Etzig, a nutritional sciences sophomore

“I can’t wait to break out my scarf collection every fall! Scarves not only keep you warm, but they’re a great way to transform your entire ensemble. You can easily dress up what feels like a boring or plain outfit by adding a bold scarf to it. Plus, with all the variety in colors, patterns and textures, scarves can be worn to work, class or Midtown.” – McKenzie Doll, a public relations senior

These are just a few of the many different accessory options you can pull off during the winter season, although most people said their favorite winter addition was their Starbucks drink in hand. Whether it’s beanies and combat boots or tights and soft sweaters, stock up on some of these cute accessories and don’t let the cold weather bring your fashion game down!
