Deck the Halls- Dorm Room Decorating

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Adelphi chapter.

Now that Thanksgiving is over it’s time to start decorating! Christmas time is coming and in the Adelphi dorms, sometimes it’s hard to find ways to make your room holiday festive.

Door decorations- most of your hall will see your door when they pass so its fun and easy to stick a few decorations on it as well as in your room! Tinsel and decals aren’t too much money and will get your door ready for Christmas. Get creative too! There are plenty of things you might have sitting around that could be used to decorate as well! Creating a theme or a little Christmas scene can be cute as well.

Don’t forget about the rest of your room though! Besides your walls, you can hang stockings off the edge of your bed or bookshelf and put decals on your window. You can also decorate your mini fridge with Christmas magnets or make it into a snowman!

The ceiling can be utilized as well! Even though you can’t put up Christmas lights, you can make designs on the ceiling with glow in the dark stars or use colored tape so that when you go to bed you’re thinking about the holidays.

And what would Christmas be without a tree? A tiny tree will fit perfectly on your desk or drawer and you and your roommate will have a blast decorating it together! You can also try a more unconvential approach and make a tree out of other things, such as all of your old textbooks!

There are plenty of ways to get your room into the holiday spirit just by running to the dollar store and getting a little creative. So this Christmas think outside of the box while staying in your dorm room when it comes to decorating!
