Campus Celeb: Jacqueline Weiss

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

This week’s celeb is near and dear to our hearts. The absolutely fabulous Jacqueline Weiss is currently assistant Campus Correspondent for our chapter, Her Campus Emerson! Next semester she will be taking a more active role here at HC Emerson as she trains to take over the branch when current Campus Correspondent, Ameara Harb, graduates. We wanted to give our readers the chance to get to know Jacqueline a bit better, as they will most definitely being seeing a lot of her the next few years!

Name: Jacqueline Weiss

Major: Journalism

Minor: Political Communications

Year of Graduation: 2017

Hometown: Wyndmoor, PA

Three words to describe yourself:

Driven, Passionate, Loyal

What are you involved with on campus?

I’m the Assistant Campus Correspondent for Her Campus, Director of New Media for Emerson College Fashion Society meaning I oversee our website, bloggers, and video team, and am a Staff Writer for em Mag, all of which I’ve been a member of since my freshman year.

Tell us a little bit about what you do outside of school and on campus organizations.

I’ve been working as a Manager on Duty at Exhale Spa in the North End since the beginning of the school and I’m loving it there! I’ve also been writing my own beauty and fashion blog Polished Perfectly for over 5 years so both of those, plus my on-campus org’s and school work keep me pretty busy.

What is your ideal job?

Writing for a women’s fashion magazine, hopefully about beauty which is what I’m most passionate about!

Who or what inspires you most as a writer?

Diana Vreeland who was a columnist for Harper’s Bazaar before becoming the editor-in-chief of Vogue in the 1960s and really helped shape the magazine into what it is today. She also advised Jacqueline Kennedy on a lot of fashion decisions she made during her time as First Lady which I love since Jacqueline Kennedy is my other biggest inspiration and who I’m named after!

What made you want to get involved with Her Campus?

I heard about Her Campus Emerson while researching org’s to join just before coming to school in August 2013 and absolutely fell in love in love with Her Campus and everything they stand for!

What are you most excited about when it comes to being a CC?

To hopefully grow our chapter to have even more writers and plan events for our chapter that other members of the Emerson community can also be involved in.

What would you say your style is as a leader?

I think I’m a natural leader. I take charge and don’t let go until myself and who I’m working with have accomplished what we’re working towards. Being this way is one of my biggest strengths and weaknesses.

Anything else we should know about you?

I’m super excited to be the new CC for our chapter!

Ameara Harb is currently a senior at Emerson College, pursuing a degree in Marketing Communications. She interns on the Restaurant, Travel, and Hospitality PR team at Marlo Marketing/Communications, and loves being CC for Her Campus's Emerson branch. She's a Disney fanatic, diehard Bruins fan, and can never turn down pizza.
